Taking Mom a trip across the Atlantic Ocean to the east coast, the west coast of America for sightseeing and visiting my uncles, aunts is my desire for so long ...
By appointment, we went to the U.S. Consulate earlier half an hour to queue and do the procedure steps of security check, submiting records, fingerprints and wait for the call to meet the consular staff for the interviews. In the meantime, I noticed the probability of the number of successful interviewees. Just around 20% of interviewees but not accepted the U.S. entry visas, they went straight towards the door with a sad and disappointing face.
“Number 2005 comes to door 3, please”. We hurried to counter immediately. I sent morning greeting to the American Consul and he responded with a friendly eye. He could speak Vietnamese fluently, but he still questioned in English about career issue, purpose, destination and length of stay in the U.S. Turning to my son, he asked about his learning and wish to study in the future. In my mom’s turn, he asked: “What is your husband job?”
My mother replied that he had passed away for 20 year. “Oh, I'm very sorry!” - The Consul bowed filled with a sympathized eye before the loss of my mother. Then he signed the green paper (approved interview records) with the smile and wish: “I wish your family a funny trip”
My motion of gratitude and respect welled up. Behavior which takes place in the life around us includes expressive easy, simple words but few people pay attention to and use it. Smiling, saying thanks, words of sympathy, words of encouragement and good wishes to the communicator is the showing a heart, an art of behavior culture full of the humanity of a civilized person and nation.
